Lately I've been working on sense-making with powers of ten with my 5th grader. Having a solid foundation and understanding of our base ten number system is essential!
To help visualize what happens when multiplying and dividing by powers of ten, I created a simple place value mat (and game!) for my kids.
The main goal? To reinforce that it's the DIGITS that shift and not the decimal point.
If your kids could use some reinforcement of place value, powers of ten and decimals, I hope you'll grab this new game!

This game includes 2 place value mats: one for whole numbers and one for decimal values to the thousandths.
