Hi Manoj,
If you teach 7th grade, 8th grade or Algebra 1, you probably spend some time discussing functions with your students.
This is one of those topics that my students always seemed to struggle with, trying to memorize facts rather than spending some time actually understanding what a function is and why.
So today I'm sharing some of the resources I've created and used over the years to help students understand what functions are, how to write function rules and how all the different representations relate to each other.
I hope this gives you some fun ideas to try out either now or in the future!
Function Resources for Grades 7-9:
FREE Function Representations Sort: This activity is a fun opening challenge that forces students to compare tables, graphs, equations, etc. to find matches.
FREE Function Rules Game: This game helps students understand function rules and how to write a function rule based on a table.
5 Ideas for Teaching, Exploring & Practicing Functions: This post includes the above freebies, along with other ideas that I use to teach and explore functions in ways that hopefully make it stick with students.
