Hi Manoj,
As we get closer to the end of the year, you are likely gearing up to teach some geometry concepts. Oftentimes, geometry topics come at the end of the book, and can sometimes get skipped or glossed over as less important.
But exploring shapes, their properties and their measurements can provide such FUN topics and can provide a break from more rigorous computation.
So if your kids are feeling a little frazzled and frustrated, maybe it's time for some hands on geometry.
The beautiful thing about geometry is that it is already, inherently visual. So students can actually play with and see the math they're learning rather than simply being told it's true.
Have you ever thought about what makes a triangle a triangle?
And although you might know that the sum of the angles in a triangle equals 180 degrees, can you prove it?
And for older students, a useful application of similar triangles is indirect measurement. How can you use that to find the height of your school building?
Many of the geometry resources below are simple enough to explore with elementary kids, but can also provide a visual, hands on springboard for deeper learning in middle school.
I hope you find something fun here that you can use with your students!
