Making Sense of Place Value & Large Numbers

Hi Manoj,

There is one vital concept all math students must know in order to be successful. Do your students have it mastered?

Maybe your student struggles with multi-digit addition or multiplication. Maybe it's division that's got them hung up. Or perhaps, it's subtraction with (gasp!) regrouping. In all likelihood all of these struggles can be boiled down to one issue:

Place value.

Place value is the building block of our number system and kids will never be fluent or flexible with numbers and computation if they don't have a solid understanding of place value.

If you know your kids need to dig a little deeper into place value with whole numbers, or just need some review, hopefully the resources below will be helpful for you.

Use some of the games below in your math centers, so students can revisit place value throughout the year!
