Digital Math Games FAQ:

Still have questions about the site, how to use the games or what's included? I've got you covered! Here are answers to the most common questions I get about Digital Math Games:

1. Do you have to have Google Classroom to use it?

Nope! This website can be used by any device (Mac or PC) as long as you have an internet connection. You can share a direct link with students in whatever learning system you use and they can play on their device (as long as they login to the website).

2. Is the price per class or per student?

Great question! The cost (on any plan) covers your entire class (or all the students you teach) and gives access to the entire website (all grade levels). This is a license for one teacher only though, so please do not purchase a single account for your entire school. Each teacher needs to have their own account. :)

When you sign up, you lock in the price for the duration of your membership, so even when the price goes up, you will not have to pay any extra.

3. What grades/math standards does this align to?

The activities align to the common core state standards for grades 3, 4, 5 and 6. If you use different standards, a quick google search can likely help you see how your standard fits in with CCSS so you can still find what you need on the site.

4. Is this a complete curriculum or a supplement?

This site is not a complete curriculum and does not guide students through activities in a particular order. It is meant to provide extra practice or review to supplement your current curriculum. You can assign a particular activity by sharing the direct link with them, or students can login and try out any activities that interest them. (But again, students do have to login to access the games, even if you share a direct link with them).

5. Can I preview the games before signing up?

Absolutely! You can get started with a free trial to access the entire site, but I also have a handful of free games available to try on this page (no account needed). I recommend testing this at school on school devices to be sure the site is not blocked by a firewall before signing up. If it appears to be blocked at your school, you can reach out to your IT department and ask that digitalmathgames.com be whitelisted.

6. Do the games include reporting for teachers/parents?

Unfortunately, no. At this time, though the games are self-checking and give feedback to the student, no report or progress is sent to the teacher. This is to allow teachers to use a single class login for everyone (rather than creating individual student accounts, which is sometimes not allowed, for students' privacy).

If you need to assess students, however, you can print the recording sheet, and have them turn it in when they finish the game so you can see their thinking/answers.

And don't forget, if you don't want to commit to such a long time just yet, you can always sign up for the monthly plan. :)

Have a question I didn't cover here? Just hit 'Reply' and ask!

Blessings,

Still not sure? Here's what one mom shared:

"My son is quite good at math, and he wanted to do some extra practice at home to challenge himself. The first time we got on Digital Math Games, he spent an hour learning new skills and playing the games...on a Saturday! He says he can't wait to get back on. We highly recommend this as a tool to learn and reinforce skills that kids need to get ahead in math." -Summer, homeschool mom
